Reggae-tinged pop singer Santigold blew through Mill City Nights on Saturday. The real-life Santi White is touring on her third album, 99¢. The new release is intended as a commentary on the commodification of culture, something of a slippery slope considering her music has been used to advertise cars, soda, and department stores. So when the real-life Santi White sings, “All I want to do is bottle it to sell” in “Can’t Get Enough of Myself,” the line between irony, satire, and truth gets a bit thin.
