The Lowry Bar: A tour

1 of 17

The Lowry in Uptown bills itself as an "urban diner," and its signage carries the slogan "burgers, whiskey, oysters, and eggs." It's no use trying to decipher what an urban diner is or what those four food/drink groups have in common--just know that this casual spot does the basics well, adding a dash of sophistication to typical diner food like burgers and pork chops. It doesn't try to be part of the Uptown "scene." It's an everyday kind of restaurant for an early riser's 6:30 a.m. breakfast and night owl's 1 a.m. nightcap, or a place you can bring a date, a client, or the kids. PHOTOS BY EMILY UTNE.
