The Current's 8th Birthday Party: Part One

The Current celebrated its 8th birthday with two packed nights at First Avenue. Friday's show started with up & comer John Mark Nelson and his full band including strings followed by Chastity Brown who got the room moving with soulful & rootsy grooves. The outstanding TC Funk & Soul All-Stars came next, featuring a number of veteran singers and hosted by an exuberant Fancy Ray McClooney. Nicholas David Mrozinski joined for a cover of "Tired of Being Alone" to wrap up their set. Closing the night out, 4onthefloor cranked it up with their typically powerful rock & roll but took a break in the middle of their set to back up special guest Zach Sobiech on his YouTube hit "Clouds".
