As the leading role as Josephine Baker, local performer and teacher Madeline Howie is no stranger to dance. She is well known in the hip-hop community as Maddie-Fresh or Bounce for her fresh and bouncy style, and is a stunning burlesque dancer in the group Foxy Tann and the Wham-Bam Thank You Maams.
"The Black Orchid: Josephine Baker, Snapshots from her Life" celebrates the life and complexity of Josephine Baker. Written and directed by Judy Cooper Lyle, the show was the first full-scale theatrical production hosted by the newly renovated Parkway Theater on 48th and Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis. The show closed June 29.
