Minnesota's first same-sex weddings in Minneapolis

1 of 58

Minnesota's first ever same-sex weddings were held in the rotunda at city hall Wednesday night and throughout the night with mayor R.T. Rybak personally marrying 42 couples. The first couples to tie the knot were Margaret Miles and Cathy ten Broeke at 12:01 AM, immediately followed by Al Giraud and Jeff Isaacson who with many other couples, families, and friends, continued the party into the wee hours at the official reception at the Hotel Minneapolis. Equality is finally met. I don't think this is the same as racial equality, but equality of any kind of necessary in society.  The news is clearly over estimating the gay population in America, given the fact its under 10%, but gallup polls have shown America at large assumes its double that.  This was a long time coming, but I look forward to the divorces in a few months just like regular marriage. Its not a fix for prejudice. Not even close.
