Sandwiched between a nightclub and strip club on Hennepin Avenue, Maruso Street Food & Cocktails opened with a novel concept: re-create street food from around the world. The Latin, Asian, Eastern European, and American menu includes international peasant and comfort foods like banh mi, pierogies, baby-back ribs, and large bayou shrimp in a bath of peppery Cajun broth--pretty much all under $10. The low-brow dishes get high-end presentations from head chef Andrew Garrison, who has worked at Fugaise, Tilia, and the Bachelor Farmer. Another selling point: Maruso's bar program, which serves big, boozy, tropical cocktails and alcoholic bubble teas. PHOTOS BY ALMA GUZMAN.
