"Die Not Kill:" Maria Isa y Bakers Dozen Band dedicate the song to all the people of the world who have been betrayed and massacred by their government. Miss Maria continues to make a powerful statement with her homemade threads, "My Dad was in Nam... Tio Sam owes him $."

A celebration went down at the Turf Club on July 4th. Not the kind of party with turkey dogs and sparklers, but the kind with food for thought that creates fireworks in your mind. The concept of the Independent's Day showcase at the Turf Club was to have the best independent local hip-hop artists come together, as an alternative to a 4th of July political event. Organizer Toki Wright wanted to provide a space where people could simply have fun, relax and enjoy life. Guests did all of the above, but when you get together artists who have something to say, it's hard not to get political.
