Hiroshima commemoration at Lyndale Park

Professional storytellers Larry Johnson and Elaine Wynne -- and their granddaughter Renee Weeks-Wynne -- told the story of Sadako and the 1,000 paper cranes. Later, people would fold and distribute origami cranes like those in the story.

On Aug. 6, the 63rd anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, about 50 people gathered at Lyndale Park's Peace Garden to fold paper cranes, hear music and stories, and engage in silent remembrance and contemplation.
