Hen House Eatery recently took over the downtown Minneapolis space vacated by the 99-year-old Peter's Grill. New owners Maribel Cuandros Perrault, Barb Gardiner, and Tara Koenig are offering mostly familiar diner classics, with a focus on local ingredients. A cheery interior with some folksy touches welcomes diners, while a stocked front pastry case tempts them with a changing array of house-made treats. Two side dining rooms can be reserved for groups of up to 20. Dishes like the Ranchero Tostadas add some spice to the breakfast-focused menu, while Cinnamon Roll Pancakes satisfy any sweet tooth. And this mostly breakfast-and-lunch joint has a full bar featuring the likes of the Red Eye Rooster, a meal-in-itself Bloody Mary. PHOTOS BY ALMA GUZMAN
