First Course: The Tour

1 of 14

First Course has been around for more than a decade, but this stylish, diminutive bistro in the Diamond Lake neighborhood has stayed somewhat under the radar. It’s great for a pre-event nibble or for date night, because it avoids Minneapolis's parking-challenged Uptown and downtown. The eclectic menu does especially well pairing fruits with meats, such as the spicy pork chop with a blueberry-pear relish. You'll also find rich pasta dishes, lovely seasonal seafood, and a rather tasty tres leches cake. For other great under-the-radar restaurants, see this week's Dish review. PHOTOS BY ALMA GUZMAN.
