Colossal Cafe St. Paul: The tour

1 of 25

The ironically named Colossal Cafe in Minneapolis is famous for its tiny space and big breakfasts. Now it has opened a St. Paul branch on Como Avenue, and while the new space is much bigger, it still has the same soul. Breakfasts and breads are its backbone. The one can't-miss menu item is the big, yeasty pancakes known as flappers. Other breakfast standouts include the roasted vegetable and feta omelet; a prosciutto, egg, and sun-dried tomato sandwich; and the cinnamon roll. The breakfast and lunch spot closes at 3, but regulars know you can pick-up premade tamale pie, lasagna, or chicken potpie for dinner. PHOTOS BY ALMA GUZMAN
