Colossal Café's St. Paul branch, known for its breakfasts, recently added a dinner menu, and we stopped by for a taste. Owners Elizabeth Tinucci and her father, John, continued their dedication to scratch cooking by hiring chef Andy Lilja, formerly of Heartland. His menu is homey and hearty, with modern touches, including dishes such as seared scallops, risotto cakes, and spare ribs. The beer list is modest but well chosen, and the sandwiches we tried were all hits: the lamb burger, BLT, and pork sandwich. Don't forget to save room for the luscious tres leches cake. PHOTOS BY E.
