Zombie Pub Crawl cocktail recipe: The Zombie


Whether you're a hippie, bridesmaid, or random wild-eyed zombie for the pub crawl, there is one thing all zombies agree on: The only thing better than brains is rum drinks made wicked strong. To celebrate the day the zombies roam the streets, we wanted to share one of our favorite drink recipes, the Zombie. One of these babies might make you forget the drag of being undead with an endless thirst for blood.

Thought to be one of the original Tiki drinks

Don the Beachcomber's Zombie

1 tsp. brown sugar

1 oz. fresh lemon juice

1 oz. gold Puerto Rican rum

1 oz. 151-proof Demerara rum (from Guyana)

1 oz. white Puerto Rican rum

1 oz. unsweetened pineapple juice

1 oz. fresh lime juice

1 oz. passion fruit syrup

1 dash Angostura bitters

Dissolve brown sugar in the lemon juice. Combine it with everything else in a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Shake well, and pour it all into a tall glass. Garnish with a mint sprig.

Note: If you don't happen to have three kinds of rum on hand, use what you've got. We substituted homemade grenadine for passion fruit syrup.
