Weekend brew round-up: Burning Bros. taproom, ENKI tap takeover, and more


For local beer lovers, this weekend is flush with tastings, openings, live music, and more.

Starting Friday, ENKI Brewing will host a tap takeover at JJ's Coffee in Eden Prairie. In St. Paul, the Minnesota Museum of American Art is hosting a screening of the beer documentary The Love of Beer and gluten-free brewers Burning Bros. will hold a soft opening of their new taproom.

On Saturday, there's a Bootcamp & Beer exercise/beer appreciation event at Lucid. Meanwhile Harriet will host a free music showcase of Tillie Rues Bedlam and Blues at 4 p.m., before its regular evening music lineup, this week featuring Maurice Jacox Trio and Electric Children, which starts at 6:30 p.m.. There is a cover charge for the evening music.

And in spring tradition, the Twins home opener is Monday. Uptown brewpub the Herkimer is offering a ticket package that includes a ticket, ride, and pregame flight of beers.

In new beers, Steel Toe has released Before the Dawn, a fusion of barleywine and Russian imperial stout, and Indeed's Haywire double black American ale is back.

As for food trucks over the weekend, the aforementioned Harriet will host Tollefson's Family Pork (Friday) and Sandy's Grill and Italian Ice (Saturday). Steel Toe hosts Cajun 2 Geaux (Friday) and Nate Dogs (Saturday).
