Weekend brew round-up: Big Wood opening taproom
Big Wood Brewery team
There's never a dry moment when it comes to beer happenings in the Twin Cities and beyond.
This weekend the award-winning Big Wood Brewery in White Bear Lake will launch its first taproom. The Big Wood taproom, which officially opens tonight, will be open each week from Thursday to Saturday and will be selling pints and growlers and offering tours.
Lucid Brewing is pouring samples on Saturday at Jordan Wine and Spirits, Byerly's (Maple Grove), and Cellars Wine and Spirits.
In other market-related news, Badger Hill is brewing Three Tree Rye for the second consecutive year, and Northgate Brewing recently marked their first anniversary with a new strong Scotch ale, Fiddle Smasher, their first bottled beer. Both are available at Four Firkins.
Colorado's Oskar Blues Brewery, makers of Dale's Pale Ale, Old Chub Scotch Ale, and Mama's Little Yella Pils, have announced plans to move into the Minnesota market. Already available in 6- and 12-pack cans across the metro, they'll also be in bars and restaurants, including Blucy's Roadside and Prairie Tap House.
For those braving the cold, there will be some excellent food truck line-ups out there at the various breweries about town. 612 Brew will host Sandy's Grill (Friday) and Motley Crews (Saturday). Twisted Fork (Friday) and Cajun 2 Geaux (Saturday) will be at Harriet Brewing, and Motley Crews (Friday) and Tollefson's Chefs Table (Saturday) will be at Surly.
