Want to buy a drive-in? Galaxy is for sale

Galaxy Drive In makes St. Louis Park prettier, and it's up for sale.

Galaxy Drive In makes St. Louis Park prettier, and it's up for sale.

It's a good week for would-be restaurateurs, with yesterday's news about the Nomad World Pub going up for sale for a cool million, and now St. Louis Park's coolest (only?) drive-in is also on the market.

Galaxy is the retro, space age, colorful mirage that emerges from the otherwise gray landscape of St. Louis Park on your way to or from the Knollwood Mall. The Star Tribune reports that owner Steve Schussler (also of the Rainforest Cafe) says the place "isn't living up to his expectations." (Financially, that is.)

Think you can do better? Galaxy is 65 years old, and it would be excellent to see it get another shot at carhops and root beer floats. The drive-in is currently dark and will not re-open for the season.
