You've come to know and love the heavy and golden orbs of masa at Hola Arepa, and the visionary, South American-inflected cooking by chef Christina Nguyen. But did you know that Nguyen's background is actually Vietnamese? You didn't? Well, you'll come to know it on Monday, Dec. 14, when you dine on some Vietnamese street food treats that are near and dear to the chef's heart.
Also near and dear to her heart? Her bartender Ryan Barott, who recently fell on some hard times as a result of a burst pipe in his home. Nguyen and staff are gonna donate all the proceeds from the Vietnamese event to Barott and his wife so they can get their life back in order and you can get back to drinking cocktails mixed by a guy with an intact house to go home to. Cool, huh?
"Dumb shit happens and we're gonna throw a party to raise some money to help them rebuild their home," says Nguyen.

Tickets: $25 and get you one cocktail and one food item. Additional food and drinks will be available for purchase.
The drinks: A list of six delicious cocktails crafted by Ryan, plus a full bar
The food: Vietnamese street foods like banh xeo "tacos" (stuffed Vietnamese crepes), sugarcane shrimp lettuce wraps, lemongrass ginger meatball wraps, and more
The music: DJ Espada with all the good sounds
All net proceeds from the event will go to Ryan and Rebecca Barott, including staff gratuities.
