Allan Law, the "Sandwich Man," is on a one-man crusade to feed Minneapolis' hungry, especially during winter. He distributes hundreds of sandwiches nightly from the back of his minivan. In this excellent excerpt from The Starfish Throwers, a documentary about individual efforts to feed the poor, Law says he hasn't slept in a bed in 13 years because he hasn't missed a single night of working the streets. He says not a night goes by that he doesn't meet individuals who "really, really need some help."

Law, who once told the Star Tribune "I truly believe that God put me on this Earth to help the poor," is a retired schoolteacher and says he decided to spend his retirement dealing with the homeless situation. He chooses to spend his efforts overnight, because that's when the other resources and shelters close. He gives out several hundred sandwiches a night, every night, and he plans do do so for the rest of his life. "If I was hungry and someone brought me a sandwich, I'd say thank you," says Law.  Watch the video here:
