Valentine's Day: 14 more great restaurant specials
You just realized Valentine's Day is approaching: Do you still have time to treat your sweetheart to a fancy dinner? Yes, but be prepared to eat early or late, or to celebrate the day on Friday instead of Sunday. Open Table has compiled a list of several popular eateries with special plans for the big weekend, and we've checked on their availability. Here are 12 great choices, with a few notes on the restaurants with limited openings.
(Most restaurants are also offering their regular fare along with Valentine's Day courses, and many of the specials are available Friday and/or Saturday in addition to Sunday, but be sure to ask when you make your reservation. Prices are per person, unless noted.)
AFTON HOUSE INN, Afton: Four-course Sweetheart dinner for $45 ($65 with wine flight). BLOOMINGTON CHOP HOUSE: Three-course dinner for two ($90 a couple). Openings Friday, plus Saturday and Sunday after 8:30.
AMORE VICTORIA, Uptown: Four-course prix-fixe menu featuring popular items off the regular menu plus new dishes ($30-$60). D'AMICO KITCHEN, downtown Minneapolis: Three-course prix-fixe menu from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday (openings after 8:30).
FRENCH MEADOW CAFÉ, Uptown: Four-course prix-fixe menu Sunday, including vegan option ($65 a couple; $80 with wine pairing). Openings early and after 9.
HEARTLAND, St. Paul: Three prix-fixe, four-course dinners (including a cheese course, plus an amuse bouche, $75). Some reservations available all three days, though Friday is best.
LA BELLE VIE, downtown Minneapolis: Eight-course, prix-fixe menu in the dining room ($95), and a five- or eight-course menu in the lounge ($75; $95) throughout Valentine's Weekend. Openings Friday only before 6 or after 8:30
PAZZALUNA, St. Paul: Aphrodisiac Menu available Friday through Sunday. Openings after 9:15.
RESTAURANT MAX, downtown Minneapolis: Four-course menu with selections such as sea bass, Parisian gnocchi, bacon-wrapped filets and lamb T-bones.
RUTH'S CHRIS STEAK HOUSE, Minneapolis: Three-course meal featuring a starter, entrée, personal side, and dessert, including new menu items ($39.95). A few openings left early and late.
SAPOR CAFE, downtown Minneapolis: Four-course dinner with fish, meat, and vegetarian options ($60).
SEVEN, downtown Minneapolis: Three prix-fixe menus available ($75, $50, and a $50 Sushi option), with wine or champagne included.
SOLERA, downtown Minneapolis: Eight-course tasting menu on Friday, Saturday and Sunday ($50). Mostly Friday openings available.
STELLA'S FISH CAFÉ, Uptown: Four-course dinner for two ($69.95).
