Twin Cities Pride Parade: Where to drink, eat, and watch

The most colorful time of the year is back again, as Minneapolis hosts its annual Pride Parade along Hennepin Avenue on Sunday, June 29.

While the parade is fun to watch from the street, restaurants and bars will host events throughout the day so you can stay involved while also boozing and feasting in allegiance with the LGBTQ community. Grab a pair of shades, a friend (or five), and your pride, 'cause we've got the best rooftops to visit this Sunday.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can eat and enjoy UNION's retractable rooftop while getting a right-on-Hennepin look at the events going on downtown. Specifically for the parade, UNION is hosting a viewing party complete with a DJ, entertainment, and parade commentary, for $10. Seven Steakhouse
With the parade happening on Sunday, there's no surprise that we're dishing out yet another brunch spot. Seven is hosting its seventh annual Bitch N' Brunch the day of the parade. For $25 in advance or $30 at the door, you can score a 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all-you-can-eat brunch deal while having access to a VIP view of Pride -- not to mention a complimentary mimosa at the beginning of your meal. Just want the sights and none of the food? $10 will get you access to seating as well as that free mimosa. Cabana couches, fresh air, and brunch: It sounds like the trifecta of summertime parade watching. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
The Beacon Public House
The Pride Parade may only be on Sunday, but deals are going on all weekend long. Saturday and Sunday, the Beacon Public House is offering a $12 Bottomless Mimosa Bar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Situated right on the new Green Line, you can get a morning start to your celebrating and cruise on down to Hennepin for the afternoon show -- no DD required. If you're staying on campus to avoid the downtown congestion, this is a convenient way to bypass traffic while getting your Pride-themed buzz on. Your rooftop viewing can wait till the afternoon.

Brit's Pub "But this isn't on Hennepin," you say. Have a little faith, readers! With Brit's massive rooftop and lawn, you can see neighboring Hennepin without a problem. Listen to the happenings of Pride while partaking in a little lawn bowling, Brit's esteemed draft beer offerings, and an order of the famous Scotch Eggs. Despite its indirect parade route location, it's sure to be a popular spot to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere of freedom.

CRAVE Rooftop
Doors open at 9 a.m., but at 10 a.m. sharp, CRAVE will be hosting the Be Bold CRAVE Rooftop Pride Parade Party, a $10 roof-access event raising money for OutFront Minnesota, a charity working to bring programs and community services to the LGBT community of the 10,000 Lakes. The event will include a DJ as well as a complimentary beer or cocktail. Do you like giving back while getting a penthouse view of the parade and entertainment? This might just be the spot for you. Tickets are available here.
