Earlier this winter, the Seward neighborhood's Tracy's Saloon & Eatery closed up shop for remodeling, and after some delays, they are finally getting ready to reopen their doors to the thirsty public. Look for the Seward saloon to reopen sometime within the next few weeks.
Tracy's encountered a few hiccups in the remodel process, which pushed back their original reopening date. According to Tracy's, when the contractors started the pre-remodel demolition, they discovered major roof and flooring issues that required more extensive work than they had originally anticipated.
"We ran into issues as soon as the demolition work started. As the old ceiling in the dining room was torn out, our contractor noticed major damage to the roof structure. Additional issues were discovered when our dining room's eastern wall was exposed," explains Tracy's spokesperson Sanjaya Wanduragala. "We brought in a structural engineering firm to assess the situation and they made several recommendations, which included replacing our existing roof and eastern wall."
"All these challenges have made us even more excited about being able to re-open and serve our customers again," she says. "We will continue to strive to be Seward's neighborhood tavern, providing restaurant-quality food and service."
Look for Tracy's Saloon & Eatery to reopen sometime around February 15.
