Town Talk Diner changes hands
Tor Westgard, Town Talk Diner's original sous chef who eventually took over the business from Tim Niver and Aaron Johnson, has sold the Hi-Lake hotspot to the Theros Restaurant Group, which owns Rudolph's BBQ in Minneapolis and the St. Clair Broiler in St. Paul.
Tor is currently studying business at the U of M and hopes to return to cooking or managing in the Twin Cities when he's finished. He says that chef Tony Calies has been heading TTD's kitchen for the past four months and, as far as he knows, he'll remain in that position under the new ownership. "I think Charlie and Jimmy Theros know what makes the TTD special and they don't want to mess that up," Westgard says. "I know they'll take care of the place, and the people in it." Okay, cool--just don't touch the cheese curd recipe.
