Top 5 s'mores recipes for National S'mores Day

When we think of s'mores, we think campfire, a star-filled sky, a cool summer breeze, and lots of gooey yumminess on our hands and face. All good things, which is why it is a great pleasure to let you know that today, August 10th, is National S'mores Day! And with s'mores gaining new respect--evidenced by the a s'more victory in the recent Bacon Takedown-- we wanted to share a few other awesome ways to prepare the graham cracker, marshmallow delights with a Top 5 list. Of course, our favorite preparation is marshmallow on stick, over campfire, squished into a bed of graham cracker and chocolate squares, but it's still fun to experiment. These recipes may find you hollering out "I would like some more!," get it?

1. Ice Cream Sandwich S'more Recipe from The Nibble

Top a graham cracker with layer of marshmallow fluff and sprinkle with chocolate morsels. Add a small scoop of chocolate ice cream.Top with another graham cracker.

2. Cherry S'mores from Garden Guides

1/2 cup marshmallow creme 1/2 cup dried tart cherries 1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips 12 graham cracker squares (2 inches each)

Put marshmallow creme, cherries and chocolate chips in a medium bowl; mix well. Place 6 of the graham crackers on a microwave-safe plate. Spoon a heaping tablespoon of marshmallow mixture on each cracker.Top with remaining crackers. Microwave, uncovered, on High (100% power) 30 to 45 seconds, or until marshmallow mixture is soft and warm. Carefully remove plate from the microwave and set on a hot pad. Let S'mores cool slightly before eating them.

3. Barbecued Banana S'more from The Nibble

Split a ripe banana down the middle. Fill the center with mini marshmallows plus chocolate and/or peanut butter morsels. Wrap the banana in foil, punching a hole in the top for steam to escape.Allow five or more minutes on the grill for the marshmallows and chocolate melt, remove and serve--with a spoon.

4. S'mores Martini from The Martini Diva

1 Ounce Chocolate Vodka 1 Ounce Bailey's Irish Cream 1 Ounce Cream de Cacao 1 Ounce Vanilla Vodka 2 Ounces Heavy Cream Toasted Marshmallows Graham Crackers, Crushed Chocolate Syrup Bamboo Skewers for Marshmallows

Dip the rim of the glass in the chocolate syrup and then into the crushed graham crackers. Chill the glasses in the freezer. Pour all the remaining ingredients except the marshmallows into a martini shaker filled with ice and shake until well blended. Pour into your chilled glasses and drop in the toasted marshmallows.

5. Bacon S'mores from Cooking for A**holes

Start with one egg white and some finely crushed graham crackers. Roll a marshmallow in the egg wash, roll it in the crumbs, roll it in the wash again, and then roll it in the crumbs. Fry in hot ass vegetable oil for 15-20 sec per side. Surround with chocolate and wrap in bacon. Garnish with more bacon. Eat it.
