Mexico City is one of the major forward-thinking food hot spots globally.
And though we'd all love to hop a flight down south to taste for ourselves, that's not necessarily in the cards. Fortunately, four chefs from one of the world's largest cities are converging on our fair town to show you what they've got.
And that's not all: They're also collaborating with three of our top restaurants. On October 13, 14, and 15 they'll be in the kitchens at Heyday, Sea Change, and Monello.
Better get on the horn and make those reservations now. Not only will chefs Fernando Martínez of Yuban and Seneri; Arturo Fernández of La República and Raíz; and Cesar Vázquez Trejo and Diego Niño of NEXO be cooking along side the culinary teams of those Minneapolis restaurants, they'll be bringing native ingredients with them and cooking authentic dishes from Mexico.
This special week is brought to us by Sabores CDMX (Flavors of Mexico City) which was launched to promote Mexico City gastronomy and encourage international tourism to Mexico City. Dang, we're glad they chose Minneapolis.
Interested diners should make reservations for October 13, 14, and 15 at the participating restaurants listed below.
Chef Arturo Fernández will be with Jim Christiansen at Heyday.
Chef Fernando Martínez will be with Mike DeCamp at Monello.
Chefs Diego Niño and César Vázquez will be with Ryan Cook at Sea Change.
Each chef will be in residence at their assigned restaurant for all three nights of dinner service (Thursday through Saturday). This means that the Sabores dinners will take place simultaneously throughout the city each of those nights. Diners can visit each restaurant over the course of the week and ask for the special "Sabores" menu.
