After shutting down its social media accounts and failing to answer phone calls, yesterday rumors started circulating that Thom Pham's troubled downtown restaurant, Thom Pham's Wondrous Azian Kitchen, was closed. Just hours later, their website confirmed speculations via a simple message from the owner:

"Wondrous Azian Kitchen is now closed. Thank you to all our friends, family, and guests for your support and love. We look forward to seeing everyone at Azia Market."

For local diners, the news doesn't exactly come as a huge surprise. Though Pham experienced huge success with his first restaurant, Thanh Do, his subsequent projects never quite seemed able to live up to the hype. Wondrous Azian Kitchen was Pham's fourth attempt at lifting his so-called curse, but financial struggles followed as well as some legal battles with family.

No public statement has been issued about Wondrous Azian Kitchen closing, but as of now, Pham's new venture, revamping his ill-fated Azia on Eat Street, is still on track. Azia Market and Bar is set to open November 7.
