Joe's Garage is all about the high drama, having recently reprised Thirst Theater after a two year hiatus. Thirst takes place Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. through March 29 (at which point people will probably be more interested Joe's patio than a performance).
I've seen Thirst awhile ago at Jitters in Northeast (now Honey) and thought it was pretty fun: one moment the couple at the adjacent table seems to be enjoying their cocktails, the next, they're breaking into a dramatic scene. The seemingly spontaneous "playlets" are penned by notable local playwrights and shouldn't involve any of the rousing, large-group do-si-do dance numbers that inevitably work their way into, like, practically every recent show I've seen on the mainstage at the Guthrie.
Single tickets are $15. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling Joe's Garage at 612.904.1163. Oh, and if you happen to get thirsty, and there are Surly beer specials during the show. For more specifics about the performances and schedule, go to ThirstTheater.com.
