The San Francisco-based Kimpton boutique hotel chain recently took over the Grand Hotel in downtown Minneapolis and put the property under a major renovation. The Zahtar restaurant upstairs is still intact, but the lobby-side lounge got a significant update--including swank new furnishings and a new food and drink list--and reopened as the Six15 Room.
Chef Kris Koch, who has previously worked at the former 20.21 in the Walker and was more recently the Metropolitan Club chef for the Twins' Target Field, has created a new menu of snacks, small plates, entrees, and desserts that incorporates many local and organic ingredients. And the bar is mixing all sorts of classic cocktails (Aviation! Sidecar! Dark & Stormy!) along with some signature blends.
