Not only has the Lowry barkeep Shaggy created a special quaff called the Thunder Beard to mark the No Shave November/Movember festivities, but we're told that many staff members got a close shave before embarking on a month free of hair removal.
You don't have to participate in the facial hair throwdown to give to this good cause a bit of cash. Just order up a Thunder Beard and know that $1 of every one you enjoy in the month of November will go to the American Cancer Society.
The Thunder Beard cocktail is made of coffee-infused resposado tequila mixed with amaretto and sweet vermouth plus cherry and bolivar bitters. It's definitely a bit macho (fitting, no?), with the tequila and coffee vying for top flavor billing.
As if that isn't enough to get you in the door at the Lowry, maybe you need to go in to see how the staff's own facial hair is growing. According to manager Andy Blankenship, several co-workers joined him in an October 30 trip to Heimie's Haberdashery for a proper shave by professionals to kick off the month.
The Lowry hopes to raise $1,000 from the sales of the Thunder Beard. But, if after a few Thunder Beards you want to give even more to the American Cancer Society, the Lowry has its own team page called Beards. Whiskey. Oysters. Eggs.
Happy No Shave November!
