Is it just us, or does it seem as though whiskey tastings are on the rise? Perhaps we have grown tired of wine events, or maybe we just plain like whiskey (we are the number one consumer of Jameson, after all). Either way, the Foshay (821 Marquette Ave.) is hosting three different tasting events (two Scotch tastings and one vodka) next week.

The first event is on Wednesday, January 27 at 6 p.m. Of the three this one is definitely the most intense. Held at Manny's Steakhouse, this night will feature a "cocktail" (Scotch) reception, and a four-course meal including items like braised veal cheek, froie gras, and dry-aged beef carpaccio. All courses are paired with a different Glenlivet, and there will be a final toast featuring Glenlivet XXV, a Scotch as mythical as the unicorn. Tickets are $125, and they warn on the flyer that when you call 651.328.9425 to RSVP you should have a credit card ready.

Looking for something a little less pricey? Prohibition upstairs will be hosting a Glenlivet tasting party Friday, January 29 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event will only set you back $35 and includes a sampling of Glenlivet 12- and 15-year, plus Nadurra. There will also be appetizers and Glenlivet experts on hand. Call the number above for reservations.

Are both of these events still too pricey? Or is Scotch just not your thing? The Living Room is hosting a launch party for 4 Orange Premium Vodka Thursday, January 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The cover and the appetizers are free, but you'll have to pay $10 per cocktail if you want to sample from one of four specialty drinks being mixed that night.
