A burglary took place on Sunday night at The Coffee Grounds, an independently owned coffee shop in the Como Park neighborhood of St. Paul. Owner David Lawrence reported the break-in via the shop's Facebook page and is asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward or to contact the Falcon Heights police.
Here's the full statement from The Coffee Grounds Facebook page:
UPDATE: The Coffee Grounds manager Tyler Liedman told the Hot Dish that the store will not close temporarily as previously reported. "We will be cutting back on some evening hours for the time being," says Liedman. "But the shop will remain open for business most of the time." You can check the shop's Facebook page for updated hours.
Dark Day at the Grounds. Last night, the shop was forcibly broken into and burglarized. We are currently open for business and tonight's reading event is still a go, but all future evening events and music are cancelled until further notice. Keep an eye on this Facebook page for ongoing announcements.
If you have any helpful information (or feel like making a confession and giving our stuff back), get in touch with us directly or contact the Falcon Heights Police at 651-767-0640.
Thanks to our friends and patrons for all your support over the years. Our amazing community has always held this place together and I'm sure we'll make it through this one, too.
Love and Peace,
The Coffee Grounds
