Taste of the Nation HOTlist event fights childhood hunger

Nothing tastes better than dining out for a good cause. On Monday, June 25, some of the biggest names in local fine dining and craft cocktails are putting on a gala to benefit Share Our Strength. Just a few of the marquee names participating in the Taste of the Nation HOTlist event are La Belle Vie, Masu, Sea Change, Brasa, Dakota Jazz Club, Cosmos, Bradstreet Craftshouse, Be'Wiched, the Strip Club, Salty Tart Bakery, Heidi's, Saffron, Minneapolis Club, Pizzeria Lola, Sun Street Breads, Chef Shack, Cooking Matters, Tilia, Barbette, Manny's Steakhouse, and PARMA 8200.

We have all the delicious details.

The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Guthrie Theater. This year, in addition to the general admission tickets ($75), guests can spend a little more ($100) and be treated to VIP admission that includes a private happy hour, an exclusive lounge, a private bar, and the chance to rub elbows with a few bold-faced names in the Twin Cities restaurant communiy.

While the ticket prices may sound a bit steep, one general admission ticket will provide 750 meals for a hungry child. A VIP ticket can pay for almost three months' worth of food.

Along with the multitude of taste rewards, guests can bid in a silent auction on such items as gift cards to local restaurants and the opportunity to be a line cook (unpaid) for a day at the Strip Club. As someone who has stood near J.D. Fratzke as he describes his thought process behind a dish, I would imagine that a little time spent in that kitchen would yield a wealth of culinary knowledge.

Tickets are available through the Share Our Strength website and, if they don't sell out this year, will also be available at the door for a slightly elevated price.
