Surly Bitter Brewer released at Common Roots tonight
Surly's (bitter?) brewer Omar Ansari will be introducing his new Bitter Brewer at Common Roots tonight at 7 p.m.
Here's how it's described on Surly's website:
Bitter Brewer - first one in, last one out, sweltering in the summer, freezing in the winter. Years of toiling and boiling have turned our brewer Todd into a cynical, surly, bitter brewer...You too can get bitter without all the fuss. Simply crack open a can and fill a glass with our latest - Bitter Brewer. Pale orange in color, this ale gets intense toast and marmalade character from British malt and American hops. Dry-hopping brings the floral citrus aromas. So go ahead, get bitter! IBUs - 37 ABV - 4%
Also, I found this post on Surly's site, which I'm hoping is an April Fool's joke, cuz I wouldn't want to see all the hopheads getting, uh, surly...
Goodbye Furious, Hello Surlyberry! Apr 01, 2009 We did not think things would come to this, but they have. We have been selling way more Furious then we expected. We contracted enough hops to double our production of Furious, but we have increased production by 37 times this year. Due to the explosion of Furious sales, we have burned through our entire hop inventory for 2009. After we go through the beer in the cooler, we will not have any more Furious for the rest of the year. We apologize that we will no longer be able to sell this beer to the public until the next hop harvest is processed, around November of 2009. Until then, look for our replacement beer Surlyberry An American Wheat beer with blueberries and huckleberries
Anyway, if you do hit Common Roots tonight, they'll have their Thousand Hills Beef cheeseburger on special, a new dinner menu, and $5 happy hour apps available from 3 to 6 pm.
