Sun Street Breads scraps dinner service

After roughly a year of serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Sun Street Breads' staff finds themselves "stretched too thin" and has announced they'll be scrapping dinner service.

Though Sun Street's focus has always been on the bakery, they brought on chef Annette Colon to create the Thursday through Saturday dinner menu, featuring family-friendly meals that were simple yet sophisticated. Items like the vegetarian Delta sandwich made with sweet potato spread, fennel slaw, and Southern-style braised greens, salt-roasted chicken with red pepper sauce, and the steak fry bread tacos will be missed, but several dishes, like the dynamite biscuits and gravy, will still be available.

Here's a message of explanation on this decision from Sun Street owner Solveig Tofte and more information about the last day for dinner.

Yesterday Sun Street made the announcement via Twitter and on their company website, writing:
Dear Friends,

Sun Street nights (dinner service) will be winding down operations in the middle of this month. Our last dinner service will be on Saturday December 15th.

As a family-owned and -operated business, we found that we've stretched ourselves a bit too thin with dinner service, so we're pulling back a bit to focus on our bakery and daytime operations, while still leaving enough time to enjoy each others' company.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for being such great customers. We hope you've enjoyed the fabulous dishes that chef Annette and her crew have created, it's certainly been our pleasure to run dinner service for the past year.

Have a warm, safe and happy holidays.
