Summit celebrates 25th anniversary
The celebration kicked off with trilling bagpipes and thudding drums in proper St. Paul fashion. Summit invited friends and fans alike down to its brewery to celebrate 25 years of independent brewing. Attendees were treated to food, tunes, and of course plenty of beer. Beers on tap included the toasted, hopped-up Silver Anniversary Ale as well as the more familiar Extra Pale Ale and the seasonal Oktoberfest.
Pizza Luce slung pizza slices, Black Forest Inn had sausages and doughy pretzels, Bennett's Chop & Railhouse churned out its Little Charlie tenderloin sandwiches doused in horseradish sauce, and Sea Salt Eatery was passing out crayfish and corn, plus so much more.
In the dazzling afternoon sun, revelers filled up on food and sampled Summit's finest before taking refuge under the enormous tent to soak in the music. Hotpants DJs spun soul and Motown classics. Next, the Prizefighters took to the stage with their reggae ska funk. The crowd continued to swell as the afternoon progressed.
With so many new microbreweries and distilleries popping up all over town, it's almost easy to forget that for so long we depended on Summit as our area alternative to the big boys. Congratulations to the brewery on 25 years. Here are a few scenes from the day.
