Stone Brewing Co. announces MN launch events

Stone Brewing Co. of San Diego is one of those breweries whose beer people seek out. Stone's beers and the copy used to promote them are renowned for being over-the-top; the latter suggesting that the drinker with bottle in hand may not be worthy to consume the beer contained therein. The brewery has been on the forefront of the high-hop revolution since its founding 15 years ago. For years Minnesota beer fans who wanted to experience the Stone Brewing Co. mystique had to travel to Hudson, Wisconsin. Many did. But a few months ago the brewery pulled out of Wisconsin, leaving upper-Midwest hopheads high and dry. But this month Stone Brewing Co. is coming to Minnesota, and they are doing so with an entire week of seriously sudsy events.

The Stone Brewing Co. folks today announced the schedule for what they are calling Stone Week Minnesota, which they promise will be "a weeklong lineup of epochal events." The brewery's CEO and Co-founder Greg Koch will be on hand to host events at venues all over the Twin Cities, along with the new Midwest Regional Brewery Rep Nate Sellegren and other representatives of the company. For the full listing of locations and times check out the Stone Week Minnesota website. It promises to be quite a week.

And there will be beer. A brewery statement says that "in addition to providing a prodigious portfolio of nine highly praised year-round releases, Greg dug back in the archives to break out some vintage rarities, barrel-aged niceties, and other treasured oddities." To cite just one example, the March 29th kick-off event at Stub & Herbs will have 32 different Stone beers on tap including five different iterations of their Old Guardian Barleywine.

Twin Cities beer fans have long desired to see Stone Brewing Co. enter the Minnesota market. I'm sure they will turn out in force to welcome them now that they are here.
