On Saturday more than 4,000 thirsty patrons will gather to sample beers and talk shop at the sixth annual St. Paul Summer Beer Fest.
The event itself will feature just over 100 breweries, both local and national, and several unique and specialty brews. The festival has doubled the number of participating breweries and attendees since its inception in 2009. Surly, Finch's Beer Company, Fitgers Brewhouse, Lagunitas, Boulevard, Founders, Rogue, and Urban Growler are just a few of the many who will hold booths at the 2014 festival.
The festival will bring over 400 brews to the State Fairgrounds, including Surly Pentagram, a 100% Brettanomyces beer, Goose Island's Ogden, a Belgian Style Tripel with Citra hops, and selections from Finch's Beer Company, a Chicago brewery making its Minnesota debut.
"I suggest people go to the website and download the program and map out a strategic plan for the day," says event organizer Mark Opdahl of Chop Liver Beer Festivals, the same company that brought us Northern Lights Rare Beer Fest earlier this year.
In addition to beer, there will be food trucks, live music, a beer education tent, and a silent auction. All proceeds from the auction benefit the YMCA Midway in St. Paul. VIP tickets are no longer available but general admission can be nabbed here.
