St. Paul Grill celebrates 20 years with discounts and a Napa trip

St. Paul Grill rolls back to 1990s prices.
St. Paul Grill rolls back to 1990s prices.

This October 4 marks a milestone that might be measured in food and beverage: 106,080 filet mignons, 127,920 walleye, 40,800 apple crisps, and 260,640 ounces of scotch later, the St. Paul Grill turns 20.

The clubby institution is known for its upscale American fare, power-broker meetups (and power-broker wind downs, at least in the case of Norm Coleman, who has logged a lot of hours in the bar), and experienced servers--the average tenure of the waitstaff is 13 years. This month, the Grill is doing a few cool things to celebrate its anniversary:

* Throughout October, six of the most popular items from the 1990 dinner menu will be offered at 1990 prices--house-smoked salmon, pear and walnut salad, chicken pot pie, Parmesan crusted sea bass, roasted tenderloin, and apple crisp all served at a notable discount.

* The restaurant is giving away a trip for two to Napa Valley, California, May 19 through May 22, 2011, with airfares, transportation, lodging, luncheons, and tours at the O'Shaugnessy Estate Winery in Anguin, California; the Pine Ridge Winery in Napa, California; the Trinchero Winery in St. Helena, California; and the Sutter Home Winery in St. Helena, California.
