St. Patricks Day drink recipe: The Emerald Fir


Since St. Patrick's Day drinks are typically nasty, let's make an Irish-style cocktail that actually is good. Wanna?

I have wondered hither-n-yonder o'er rolling fields of heather to create The Emerald Fir-- just for you: Whiskey makes this drink forceful, fresh mint and orange sweeten the deal.
The Emerald Fir 2 1/2 oz. Irish whiskey
6 fresh mint leaves
1/2 a navel orange cut in wedges + one slice for garnish
Approx.1 tablespoon of simple syrup (more or less to your taste)

Muddle mint and orange. Add ice, whiskey, and simple syrup. Garnish with a orange slice and mint leaf.

Simple syrup:
Take 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water and heat until sugar dissolves. Let cool before using.
