If you like Tilia then you're probably going to love St. Genevieve, a second restaurant from one of the Twin Cities' longest-standing and most talented chefs, Steven Brown. Linden Hills' Tilia has transformed itself from a difficult-to-get-a-seat hotspot to a deep-rooted neighborhood institution (what it was meant to be all along). We imagine St. Genevieve will be no different.

Brown shared the menu with us, below, plus a few other details about the opening.

  • The restaurant is technically open now — one can reserve a table or walk in. A portion of the proceeds from the dinners will go to support local charities. If you are interested, you should contact the restaurant directly at [email protected] Tonight through Dec. 14, dinner is served starting at 5:30 p.m.
  • Brown is calling the new restaurant a "buvette," a French term translating to tavern, refreshment stand, or snack stall serving humble food and refreshing drinks in a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere. “France is such a historical foundation for restaurant eating and drinking culture. We think a buvette will be an interesting way to explore food, wine, service, and ambiance in a way that fits the neighborhood motif," he told us. The restaurant will be situated along the intersection of 50th and Bryant, an area with great dining pedigree including long-lost Pane Vino Dolce and Heidi's (RIP) and now George and The Dragon. He also mentioned that a French-inspired restaurant is something he's wanted to do for a long time.
  • The space includes a handmade zinc bar and copper French doors that capitalize on the great western exposure, bringing lots of light to the room.
  • A serious French wine program is being led at the restaurant by sommelier Brie Roland. Champagne features prominently in the program (yay! bubbles!) and Roland will also pay close attention to curating fantastic coffee, handmade sodas, and craft beers.
