Think pink this May
Wine fanatics will soon notice a few changes when entering Solo Vino, St. Paul's beloved Selby Avenue wine shop. Space has been made for a beer cooler and shelves have been added to include a wider selection of hard alcohol. And that's not all that's expanding. This year owner Chuck Kanski has ordered the biggest tent yet for their sixth annual celebration of rosé.
This year's tent will be 3,200 square feet and occupy almost the entirety of the Solo Vino parking lot. To kick off the summer wine season, Kanski and his staff will be pouring case after case of rose-colored wine, ranging from the very affordable to once-in-a-lifetime sippers.
For those who don't love the pink stuff, this event could truly be a conversion experience, but for die-hard haters, there will also be samples of several craft beers and other adult beverages.
"We're expecting 400 or more people this year," says Kanski. "It's our largest tasting to date." The party will take place on Sunday, May 18 from 2 to 5 p.m., rain or shine. There will also be a buffet of snacks available including four different flavors of sausages from the James Beard Award-winning Northeast institution, Kramarczuk's. Tickets are $35 and are available here
