Smack Shack: A television debut and a new restaurant
Minneapolis's own Smack Shack, the unlikely Midwestern lobster truck, is officially loved from coast to coast. Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives filmed there recently, Bon Appetit raved about them, and now they've decided it's time to expand. While the Shack has been operating out of the kitchen at the 1029 Bar, as well as hosting a few rollicking lobster boils, they've decided that the time has come for a space of their own.
Thoma and partner Kevin Fitzgerald have already begun construction on the new restaurant, which will be near Sixth and Washington in the North Loop. The space will seat 115 with an additional 40 in a mezzanine. The space is an old warehouse, so the build-out will be completely new construction. Expect to see a raw bar and rollback walls, garage-door style, for the warmer months. The menu will include all of our favorites, plus much more.
