Sisyphus completes Kickstarter for beer mural and reveals artists' sketch

Sisyphus Brewing, after launching a Kickstarter campaign last month to fund a mural on an exterior wall, has surpassed its goal, securing $8,836 for local artists Jawsh and Adam Turman to carry out the mural design pictured above.

The mural itself pulls from the myth of Sisyphus, and incorporates Paul Bunyan and the Stone Arch Bridge, among other notable local details. "Sisyphus lends itself perfectly to very dynamic imagery," says artist Turman. "Add in craft brewing, Minneapolis, and Minnesota-centric icons, and the concept for the design practically writes itself."

The collaboration between the two artists and the brewery has been a smooth process, Turman notes. "[Owners] Sam and Catherine [Harriman] were "completely open to our artistic interpretations...and gave us tons of freedom."

Completion of the mural is expected by the end of June. The brewery, which includes a 100-seat tap room and a 100-seat theater for comedy and live music, is located near Loring Park and is slated to open sometime next month.
