Gather will host Sameh Wadi and other local chefs during the 2013 season
Gather by D'Amico at the Walker Art Center will once again run its popular Chef-in-Residence series, in which the restaurant invites a local chef to create two new dishes on Gather's menu on Thursdays throughout the month that chef is hosting. Gather just announced its late winter/early spring lineup, and it looks exciting and diverse as always.
Here's more on who and what you can expect to see at Gather over the next three months:
First up in January, Gather welcomes Sameh Wadi, the wunderkind chef who, along with his brother, owns downtown gem Saffron and the recently opened World Street Kitchen, a brick-and-mortar version of their popular food truck. Starting Thursday, January 3, chef Wadi will be adding two new small plates to Gather's menu, and from 5 to 9 p.m., he will be onsite at the restaurant to meet and greet guests and serve free samples of his Mediterranean and North African-influenced food.
Next up will be chef Lucia Watson of Lucia's in Uptown. Her residence begins Thursday, February 7, when she will also appear in-person at the restaurant handing out complimentary tastes of her local and organic fare. Over two decades, Watson has become synonymous with the locavore movement and inspired many Twin Cities chefs to follow in her footsteps.
Then in March, Gather will kick off spring with chef Don Saunders of the Kenwood and In Season. Starting Thursday, March 7, Gather's menu will highlight two new dishes created by Saunders and driven by his fresh seasonal approach and refined French technique. Saunders will be there from 5 to 9 p.m. to rub elbows and pass around more of that all-important free food.
