Some locations just don't seem to work. When Shag, a strange but surprisingly good '70s themed sushi restaurant, opened in the North Loop in early 2015, we thought it had a good chance at capturing the neighborhood demographic. No go.
Then, last November, the same restaurant group (also responsible for downtown's Ling and Louie's and the newish Nanne's Steakhouse) opened a Rojo Grill in the former Shag space. Maybe it would capture the lunch crowd looking for a quick-hit Mexican lunch that everyone from accounting could agree on. Nope.
Rojo is closed now, too. No word on whether there are plans for yet another concept in the space, but if your hankering for avocado egg rolls just won't quiet, Rojo has two other locations, one in Roseville, and another in the Shops at West End.
