In January, rumors began swirling that Uptown Thai restaurant Roat Osha was closing to make room for a new Walgreens. Fans of the restaurant's pad Thai, curries, and cocktails can breathe a collective sigh of relief: The rumors were only partially true (isn't that always the case?).
The building at 2650 Hennepin Ave., which has been home to Roat Osha since 2009, along with the late, lamented FirstTech computer store, will indeed be demolished to make room for a new Walgreens. Luckily for fans, the restaurant isn’t closing, it's merely moving a few blocks south, into the Calhoun Square space vacated last December by Chiang Mai Thai.
Plans are for Roat Osha to be operating in its new digs by August; the current location remains open, so there's still time to enjoy one more evening on the patio.
