Restaurant Week launches with several new eateries

Restaurant Week, the seasonal event hosted four times a year by Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, has proved itself to be a hit with both restaurants and diners. Chefs get to pick the dishes on their menus that highlight the restaurants' strengths, and diners get to branch out and try new places at accessible prices. Restaurant Week Summer 2012 is upon us (July 8-13), and there are no fewer than 50 participating restaurants from across the metro area from which to choose. From White Bear Lake to Bloomington to both of the Twin Cities, there's no shortage of excellent options for stretching your palate and restaurant repertoire.

Here are the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week for the first time this summer.

In Bloomington, Chez Daniel Bistro joins Meritage and Vincent A Restaurant in the French category, offering both lunch and dinner prix fixe menus ($15 and $30, respectively), which include such tempting fare as lobster ravioli, roasted duck (dinner only), and chocolate mousse.

In St. Paul, Twisted Fork Grille is joining the party, with lunch and dinner menus priced at $10 and $15. Downtown Minneapolis has two newcomers: Crooked Pint Ale House (offering lunch and dinner), and perhaps the most exciting addition to the participating restaurant list, Haute Dish, whose prix fixe dinner menu includes their famous tater tot hautedish and king crab mac 'n' cheese.

Local chain Green Mill is also participating this year, with lunch and dinner menus at each of their locations that include some of their popular pizza and pasta dishes. Cupcake, in the Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, is celebrating its return from construction-mandated closure by offering a dinner menu for $15, which naturally includes one of their delicious cupcakes for dessert.
