PizzaRev, a Buffalo Wild Wings-backed pizza joint, makes its way to Minnesota
Look out, Punch Pizza. PizzaRev, a new Chipotle-style pizza joint hailing from California, will open its first Minnesota location in Hopkins on May 14. PizzaRev offers quick, make-your-own pizzas at a lower price than Punch, but whether it stands up in quality remains to be seen. See also: Vikings' Matt Kalil to bring Pieology Pizza to Minnesota
The fast-casual restaurant allows customers to select from a variety of sauces (including BBQ and white sauce), cheeses, unlimited toppings (from spicy chorizo to fennel seeds), and gluten-free or regular crust. Each 11-inch pie costs $7.49, regardless of how many toppings you add, and gluten-free dough and vegan cheese are available for a bit extra. The pizzas are baked in a 900-degree oven and are ready within three minutes. The dough is made in-store and, according to PizzaRev, the ingredients will be locally sourced when possible.
The new 2,400-square foot PizzaRev location will be located in Hopkins's Knollwood Crossings Center, which currently houses Five Guys Burgers & Fries, Sprint, and Jersey Mike's Subs.
PizzaRev currently operates nine locations across California and plans to open additional restaurants in Missouri, South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Texas, and Utah. A number of similar concepts already exist in Minnesota, including Punch Neapolitan Pizza, Pizza Studio, and Pieology Pizza, a pizza franchise from Vikings player Matt Kalil expected to open later this year.
Minneapolis' own Buffalo Wild Wings owns the company's franchise rights in Minnesota and plans to open several additional locations in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Last month, Kathy Benning, the company's executive vice president, announced that Buffalo Wild Wings plans to invest in three to five additional restaurant concepts, in addition to the company's 3,000 BWW locations.
