More updates from the impending gentrification of south Nicollet: Kim Bartmann and her sister/business partner Kari are revealing details on their plans for taking over Casey's Bar, a longtime fixture at 35th Street.
The Bartmanns, who operate Barbette, Bryant Lake Bowl, and the Red Stag, in addition to recently picking up the Lake Harriet concessions contract, plan to remake the tavern into Pat's Tap, a gastro-pub upgrade to traditional bar fare. Here's what's in store:[jump]
Chef Kevin Kathman of Barbette has been helping with the lunch/dinner/weekend brunch menus, which will include everything from basic burgers to mussels and frites, plus house made pastas, breads, and charcuterie.
The sisters plan to start remodeling in mid-November, and will incorporate sustainability into their changes by employing LEED building standards, using locally produced foods, and offering several wines from organic and biodynamic producers.
The Bartmann's plan to add a new kitchen and shaded cobblestone patio, but their biggest improvement may be the addition of 1950's Skee Ball machines, whose proceeds will be donated to non-profits that assist the homeless and hungry.
