A sweet new shop, Pandolfi, has opened at 50th and France in Edina, just east of Mozza Mia--but only accessible from the alley side, next to the parking garage.
The shop offers dozens of candies and chocolates, and even has a cotton candy machine. For nostalgic types, Pandolfi sells Snoopy Sno-Cone machines and a tabletop version of the arcade "claw" game.
The Hot Dish stopped by this week to try the shop's Oprah-endorsed gelato:
Local mompreneur Jeanne Riha can be seen staffing the register, often with the help of her daughters, who can offer a suggestion for which of the 24 flavors of Palazzolo's gelato to choose.
From the few flavors we sampled, the gelato seemed on par with some of our other favorites, scooped at places like Fat Lorenzo's and Amy's Classic Confections. The cup pictured, mascarpone/caramel/pistachio (with a decorative-but-edible sugar-cone wafer), is a good place to get started.
