"Our very own Eat Street" at Taste of Northeast
Brasa Premium Rotisserie at the Northeast Farmers Market
A number of Northeast's top eateries will pitch tents at the Northeast Farmers Market on Saturday, Oct. 5. for the third annual Taste of Northeast. Market-goers will be able to sample some of Northeast's tastiest bites for around $3 to $6 a plate.
"It's our very own Eat Street," says market manager Sarah Knoss. "We've seen a huge growth in more independent restaurants, sustainable, local spots. This is a foodie-type neighborhood."
Modern Café, Brasa Premium Rotisserie , Psycho Suzie's Motor Lounge , Chowgirls Killer Catering , and Gnocchi Me will all be there, each offering one or two dishes. Consider them "little tastes and flavors of what they have to offer at the restaurant," says Knoss.
In addition to the restaurant offerings, the event will feature a cooking demo by Chef Kate Moore and Vellee Deli Banh Mi sandwiches and burritos available for purchase. The 770 Radio K van will provide the musical accompaniment to this Northeast feast.
Taste of Northeast takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., which only partially explains why none of the breweries will be on hand with samples of their latest beers. (Sure, it's a farmers market, and sure it's mostly before noon, but this is also Northeast.)
The event is free and open to the public, but bring cash for the food stalls. Credit and debit cards can be used to purchase market tokens, but we imagine when Brasa's pulled pork sandwiches start calling your name, you'll want to slap down some cash and eat. The Northeast Farmers Market is located at the corner of 7th Avenue and University Avenue NE.
